What is Usenet?
Usenet is a worldwide bulletin-board system that maintains newsgroups, electronic mailing lists where users can remotely post their views on a given topic. UC Davis maintains certain Usenet newsgroups for educational and research purposes. Examples of these are newsgroups where students can discuss course subject matter with their teaching assistants, professor and other students, and newsgroups where researchers from a certain discipline can compare notes.How to Read UC Davis Usenet Newsgroups
Access to UC Davis Usenet News is restricted to UC Davis faculty, students and staff (UC Davis affiliates). UC Davis affiliates can access the UC Davis news server, news.ucdavis.edu, with a UC Davis computing account.- Once you have established an Internet connection, open your browser to a new window.
- Use your UC Davis computing account to log in to news.ucdavis.edu. If you have questions about your UC Davis computing account, contact IT Express Computing Helpdesk at 530-754-HELP or ithelp@ucdavis.edu
- Once you have been authenticated as a UC Davis user, you will be able to access Usenet newsgroups.
