Remote Access
UC Davis Campus Modem Pools
CR currently supports three dial-up modem pools that provide off-campus access to the UC Davis computing network. All three of the dial-up modem pools operate 24-hours-a-day and are now populated with high-speed 56K modems (V.90).Please note that your connection speed also depends on the capabilities of your home modem and telephone lines. UC Davis students, staff and faculty are eligible to use the IET modem pools, and can access the campus network from home or anywhere off-campus (e.g., a cyber cafe, friend's house or public library).
The dial-up modem pools allow users to access e-mail, the Internet, Melvyl (the library), and Usenet (newsgroups).
